Personal mail does not go to the prison. Address it to: Inmate's name and OPUS number, Albemarle Correctional Institution (spell out the full prison name, no abbreviations), P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. NC DAC's mail processor, TextBehind, scans each letter, card and photo and delivers it to the person's tablet. The return address must include your full first and last name or the mail is returned. Letters must be on plain white paper (no larger than 8.5 x 11, up to 10 pages) with no stickers, glitter, tape or 3D items. Books, magazines and packages are not sent through TextBehind, and legal mail goes through the prison. Confirm the details on the official NC DAC mail page before you send anything.
Visitors must be approved by the prison before the first visit, and visiting days and hours differ by facility. Check the official NC DAC page for this prison and call ahead before you travel.
Confirm the current phone, tablet and video vendor on the official NC DAC page, since these can change.
